Outreach Services

Bellingham Public Library provides Outreach services to Bellingham residents who, because of age, illness, or long-term disability of three months or more, are unable to visit the library in person.

Assisted Living / Health Care Centers

Monthly service is scheduled at 14 facilities in Bellingham:

  • Brookdale Fairhaven
  • Columbia Place
  • Highgate Senior Living
  • Highland Health & Rehabilitation
  • Mt. Baker Care Center
  • North Cascades Health & Rehabilitation Center
  • Orchard Park Assisted Living
  • Rosewood Villa
  • Shuksan Healthcare Center
  • St. Francis of Bellingham
  • Summit Place Assisted Living
  • Woodway Senior Living

Residents provide reading profiles and library staff pre-select materials, including:

  • Regular print fiction and nonfiction books
  • Large print books
  • Paperbacks
  • Audiobooks
  • Music CDs
  • DVDs
  • Magazines

Residents may also place holds on specific titles.

Home Service

Individuals who are confined to their homes for three months or more are eligible for home service. Individuals arrange to have a family member, volunteer, or caregiver pick up and deliver pre-selected library materials to them.

Individuals who qualify as vision-impaired may also receive recorded books and magazines through the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library. This organization may also be contacted at 1-800-542-0866. Applications for this service are available from Outreach staff and at the Help Desk at the Central Library.
