Great news for our online users: We’ve improved the library’s website to help you discover and use all our library resources!
The biggest change has already happened, and you’re viewing it now. Our fresh, new mobile-friendly design is coupled with more intuitive, easier-to-use navigation and improved search capabilities. It is more accessible and inviting for users of all abilities, interests and ages, designed to help all our patrons find what they are looking for online.
Additional improvements are planned in 2017, including more comprehensive information about our services, updates to our calendar of events and room reservation systems, and other changes to help meet user needs.
Special thanks to the Friends of the Bellingham Public Library. Consultant costs were paid for entirely by this dedicated volunteer organization, one example of many library projects that have been fully funded by the Friends. Thanks also to our consulting team at Big Fresh, whose contributions helped us achieve our goals, and the City of Bellingham Information Technology Resources Department, our partners in planning and launching the updated site. We also are grateful for the support of local photographers whose contributions help make the new website shine: Paul Conrad, Radley Muller, Kenni Merritt, Linda Wright, Paul Leeson, and various Essence of Bellingham Photo Competition participants.
Our website was last re-designed in 2008. The internet has changed a lot since then, and so has our library and our community! As we continue to make improvements, please let us know how we’re doing. You can always reach us by using our Contact Us page, featured prominently throughout our website.
Library website update will replace Library Now mobile app
After December 31, 2016, Bellingham Public Library cardholders will no longer have access to our website using the Library Now mobile app.
Our website improvements are designed to be mobile-friendly and provide convenient, seamless access to our library catalog. The Library Now app is a paid service that has been a helpful patron resource. Our updated mobile-friendly website, coupled with improvements to our library catalog, together are expected to provide similar mobile convenience and improved function without the additional cost to the library for a special app.
Thank you for your patience with this change as we strive to provide the best, most cost-effective services possible.
