The Central Library offers regularly scheduled storytimes for children of all ages.  Storytimes are free of charge, do not require pre-registration and are held in the Dodson Room at the Central Library.  Note: Room capacity of the Dodson Room is 60.  Check our online event calendar or contact the Children’s Library for the current schedule.

Baby Time Storytime Series

For non-walking babies and a parent.
Tuesdays, June 19 – August 7

2:00 – 2:45 p.m. (includes storytime and baby play time)

Note: Registration is for ALL EIGHT sessions.

This eight-week class focuses on the interaction between parent and child.  Parents will learn a variety of bounces, songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and movement to use at home to develop baby’s early literacy skills. Baby play time occurs the last 20 minutes of class.

Little Storytime

For children ages birth – 3 years with an adult partner.
Join Bethany or Bernice for a storytime that develops early literacy skills by introducing babies and toddlers to the love of books, songs, rhymes, fingerplays and movement.  Lots of fun!

Mondays,  June 18 – August 6  at 10:05 a.m.; 10:35 a.m.; and 11:05 a.m.
Tuesdays, June 19 – August 7 at 10:05 a.m.; 10:35 a.m.; and 11:05 a.m.
Wednesdays, June 20 – August 8 at 10:05 a.m. (NOTE: just one session on Wednesdays in the summer)
Please choose the one session that works best for your family.  There is a maximum capacity of 60 individuals in the room.

Preschool Storytime

For children ages 3 – 5 years with an adult partner.
Join Mandee or Julie for a storytime that encourages the development of pre-reading skills through stories, songs, rhymes, fingerplays and narrative.  Enjoy a fun and simple craft at the end.
Mondays, June 18 – August 6 at 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. (45 minute program)
Thursdays, June 21 – August 9
 at 10:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. (30 minute program)

Time for Tales *new day/time during summer!

For children ages 4 – 8 years (parents welcome!)
Join Bernice for a storytime that promotes the love of books through stories and songs while developing reading comprehension skills.  Plus, kids get to be creative with a fun craft!

Fairhaven Family Story Night with the Bellingham Storytellers Guild

For children ages 6 and up; adults welcome.

Looking to begin storytelling or craft your skills?  The Storytellers Guild offers Storytelling Coaching from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.  Storytelling begins at 7:00 p.m.

Every third Friday of the month from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. in the Fireplace Room at the Fairhaven Branch Library.
