Starting Monday June 15

We are offering curbside services for holds. Once you have been notified that your item is ready, you’ll be able to let us know that you’d like to pick up your holds. This service is available at our Central Library location (210 Central Ave) only. Items on hold at our Barkley and Fairhaven Branches are also available for pick up at the Central Library.

For your safety and ours, pick up services are contact-free.  We ask that all users maintain appropriate physical distancing (6’) and wear a cloth face covering (if appropriate) while picking up holds.

You can request items by accessing your account through our online catalog or by calling us at 360-778-7323.

  • Just like before we closed, you’ll receive a notification by email, text, or phone when your requested items are on our hold shelf.
  • Call us at 360-778-7275 on the day you plan to come to the Library to pick up your items from the hold shelf. This advance notice will give us time to get your holds ready for you and check items out to your account.
  • Curbside holds pickup is available Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Park in a space reserved for curbside pickup, located on the south side of the building, near the main floor entrance on Central Ave.
  • If you are not using a vehicle to get to the library, please wait at a safe distance from the pickup table and give us a call.
  • Call us at 360-778-7275 to let us know you’ve arrived.
    • No cell phone? No problem. Let us know when you call before leaving and we’ll watch for your arrival.
  • Staff will bring your items outside to a sanitized pickup table near the entrance.
  • Please allow staff to confirm your name and move away from the table before retrieving your items.

Holds designated for pickup at Barkley are available for curbside pickup at the Central Library.

Holds designated for pickup at Fairhaven are available for curbside pickup at the Central Library.

  • New holds designated for pickup at BTC, WCC, & WWU will be kept at the Central Library for curbside pickup.
  • Holds that were available for pickup at Community Connections when we closed on March 16 are still at those locations, and will remain there until we are able to make arrangements to move them downtown.
  • We’re accepting returns through the outdoor book returns at the Central Branch of the Bellingham Public Library. Our other locations are not currently accepting returns.
  • We’re quarantining returned items for three full days before our staff check them in.
