The Tale of the Rabbit and the Diamondback Rattlesnake
Submitted by Cub Scout Webelos 2 Den 2 Pack 20 Mount Baker Council

One fine summer evening, Thumper the jackrabbit was walking down the Grand Canyon.
He heard the bushes moving. Out came Ratty the diamondback rattlesnake.

Ratty was a sly one. He had tricked almost every animal he met.
He wanted to trick jackrabbit. Ratty talked to Thumper about going on a trip with him. They decided to go to Mt. Rushmore.

When they finally got to Mt. Rushmore, rattlesnake started chasing jackrabbit up into George Washington's nose. Ratty was chasing jackrabbit for a long time and then he lost sight of him.

While Ratty was looking for Thumper, Thumper was digging a hole at Abe Lincoln's nose. He covered the entrance to the hole with sticks and dirt. Ratty saw Thumper. Thumper made a sharp turn, but Ratty couldn't make that sharp of a turn. He fell down into a pit of acid-spitting gophers.
