Storytimes



The Central Library offers regularly scheduled storytimes for children of all ages.  Storytimes are free of charge and do not require pre-registration.  Check our online event calendar or contact the Children's Library for the current schedule.

2015 Storytime Session Dates:
Winter:  January 12 - April 2 (no storytimes January 19 and February 16)
Spring:  April 13 - May 7
Summer:  June 22 - August 6
Autumn:  September 14 - December 10 (no storytimes November 11 and Thanksgiving Week:  November 23 - 26)

Baby Time Storytime Series

For non-walking babies and a parent.
Tuesdays, March 17 - May 12 (note: no class on Tuesday, April 7th)
2:00 - 2:45 p.m. (includes storytime and baby play time)

*Pre-registration is required for this program - space is limited!  Call 778-7200 to register.
Note: Registration is for ALL EIGHT sessions.
 


This eight-week class focuses on the interaction between parent and child.  Parents will learn a variety of bounces, songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and movement to use at home to develop baby's early literacy skills. Baby play time occurs the last 20 minutes of class.

Little Storytime

For children ages birth - 3 years with an adult partner.
Join Bethany or Bernice for a storytime that develops early literacy skills by introducing babies and toddlers to the love of books, songs, rhymes, fingerplays and movement.  Lots of fun!

Mondays, January 12 - March 30 (closed Jan. 19 & Feb. 16) at 10:05 a.m.; 10:35 a.m.; and 11:05 a.m.
Tuesdays, January 13 - March 31 at 10:05 a.m.; 10:35 a.m.; and 11:05 a.m.
Wednesdays, January 14 - April 1 at 10:05 a.m.; 10:35 a.m.; and 11:05 a.m.
Please choose the one session that works best for your family.

Time for Tales

For children ages 4 - 8 years (parents welcome!)
Join Bernice for a storytime that promotes the love of books through stories and songs while developing reading comprehension skills.  Plus, kids get to be creative with a fun craft!

Thursdays, January 15 - April 2 from 2:00 - 2:45 p.m.

Preschool Storytime

For children ages 3- 5 years with an adult partner.
Join Mandee for a storytime that encourages the development of pre-reading skills through stories, songs, rhymes, fingerplays and narrative.  Enjoy a fun and simple craft at the end!

Thursdays, January 15 - April 2 at 10:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Fairhaven Family Story Night with the Bellingham Storytellers Guild

For children ages 6 and up; adults welcome.

NEW: Looking to begin storytelling or craft your skills?  The Storytellers Guild offers Storytelling Coaching from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.  Storytelling begins at 7:00 p.m.

Every third Friday of the month from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. in the Fireplace Room at the Fairhaven Branch Library.
