The Central Library offers regularly scheduled storytimes for children of all ages.  Storytimes are free of charge and do not require pre-registration.  Check our online event calendar or contact the Children's Library for the current schedule.

2016 Storytime Session Dates:
Winter:  January 11- March 31 (no storytimes January 19 and February 15)
Spring:  April 11 - May 12
Summer:  June 20 - August 11 (no storytimes July 4)
Autumn:  September 12 - December 8 (no storytimes  Thanksgiving Week:  November 21 - 24)

Baby Time Storytime Series

For non-walking babies and a parent.
Tuesdays, September 13 - November 1

2:00 - 2:45 p.m. (includes storytime and baby play time)

*Pre-registration is required for this program - space is limited!  Call 778-7200 to register.
Note: Registration is for ALL EIGHT sessions. 

This eight-week class focuses on the interaction between parent and child.  Parents will learn a variety of bounces, songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and movement to use at home to develop baby's early literacy skills. Baby play time occurs the last 20 minutes of class.

Little Storytime

For children ages birth - 3 years with an adult partner.
Join Bethany or Bernice for a storytime that develops early literacy skills by introducing babies and toddlers to the love of books, songs, rhymes, fingerplays and movement.  Lots of fun!

Mondays, September 12 - November 14, November 28 - December 5 at 10:05 a.m.; 10:35 a.m.; and 11:05 a.m.
Tuesdays, September 13 - November 15, November 29 - December 6 at 10:05 a.m.; 10:35 a.m.; and 11:05 a.m.
Wednesdays, September 14 - November 16, November 30 - December 7 at 10:05 a.m.; 10:35 a.m.; and 11:05 a.m.
Please choose the one session that works best for your family.  There is a maximum capacity of 60 individuals in the room.

Preschool Storytime

For children ages 3- 5 years with an adult partner.
Join Mandee or Julie for a storytime that encourages the development of pre-reading skills through stories, songs, rhymes, fingerplays and narrative.  Enjoy a fun and simple craft at the end!

Mondays, September 12 - November 15, November 28 - December 5 at 2:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m.
Thursdays, September 15 - November 17, December 1 - December 8
at 10:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Time for Tales

For children ages 4 - 8 years (parents welcome!)
Join Bernice for a storytime that promotes the love of books through stories and songs while developing reading comprehension skills.  Plus, kids get to be creative with a fun craft!

Thursdays, September 15 - November 17, December 1 - December 8 from 2:00 - 2:45 p.m.

Fairhaven Family Story Night with the Bellingham Storytellers Guild

For children ages 6 and up; adults welcome.

NEW: Looking to begin storytelling or craft your skills?  The Storytellers Guild offers Storytelling Coaching from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.  Storytelling begins at 7:00 p.m.

Every third Friday of the month from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. in the Fireplace Room at the Fairhaven Branch Library.
