Troubleshooting problems with the library catalog from home

Q: I am not able to log into my account or place a hold from home.
A:
1. Are you typing in your entire barcode?
You must type in your entire barcode number (all 14 numbers with no spaces).
2. Does the library have your correct telephone #?
The last four digits you type in must match what is in your library patron record.
3. Has your library card expired?
If you haven't used your library card in two years or more, you may have been purged
from the system. Please call (360)676-6860 and have us check your account status.
4. What web browser are you using? (HIP doesn't work well with the Opera browser.)
Try using a different browser when accessing the library catalog (IE; Mozilla; etc.)
5. Clear your cache and cookies.
6. Is your security set too high?
Occasionally, a person has their computer's security set at the maximum level and is not able to access the patron functionality of HIP. Try lowering the security setting on your browser.
7. Are you running a firewall or Internet security program?
Try disabling it to see if that software is blocking you from fully accessing the library
catalog.
8. If none of the above solutions work, please contact your Internet Service Provider.
They may be running a firewall that blocks our web site.
