Central Library Open Sundays Starting September 7

The Bellingham Public Library will resume Sunday hours at the Central Library starting Sunday, September 7. Hours on Sundays will be 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.

"Sundays are always a great day for families to visit the library," Library Director Pam Kiesner said. "Being open on Sundays is among the services most requested by our patrons, and we're grateful to be able to offer Sunday hours at our Central Library this year."

As in the past, Sunday hours are offered during the school year only. The library will provide basic services on Sundays and does not plan to offer special programs or delivery and pick-up of library materials. .

The Bellingham City Council included funding for Sunday hours at the Central Library in its 2014 budget, adopted last December. Sunday hours were eliminated in 2009 as part of overall library budget reductions, Kiesner said. Funding for other services eliminated in 2009 -- such as additional open hours at branch libraries -- has not yet been restored.

Library patrons also are reminded that all locations of the Bellingham Public Library will be closed on Monday, September 1 in observance of Labor Day.
