Announcing New Library Drop Box at Community Food Co-op Cordata Store
Bellingham Public Library and the Community Food Co-op will now offer a library drop box at the new Co-op Cordata Store. Starting March 3, 2009, the public will be able to drop off library items at the Co-op’s Cordata location on Cordata Parkway at Westerly Road, just north of the Bellis Fair Mall’s Bakerview Road entrance. Pickup days at the Cordata site will be Tuesday and Thursday of every week. Items will be back-dated at check-in to the previous pickup day so items returned on time to the drop box will not become overdue.
The partnership between the Bellingham Public Library and the Community Food Co-op Cordata Store provides an opportunity for the public to consolidate their errands on the north side of town. Liz Reese, the Marketing and Membership Manager at the Community Food Co-op is excited to launch this new partnership. “This gives us the opportunity to work with the library to bring a valuable community service to the Cordata/Guide Meridian neighborhood and all of northern Whatcom County.”
Library staff is equally enthusiastic. “We’re always looking for cost-effective ways to provide library services to the north side,” said Assistant Director Christine Perkins. “At the Whatcom Community College Connection, library patrons can pick up items they’ve placed on hold. With the Co-op Drop Box, they now have an additional and more convenient way to return items – seven days a week – without driving all the way downtown."
