EMERGENCY WEATHER POLICIES

With winter storms forecasted, Bellingham Public Library patrons are encouraged to renew library materials online at www.bellinghampubliclibrary.org or by calling 360-778-7323 x2 rather than driving to the library in snowy or icy conditions.

Before leaving home, please call the library at 360-778-7323 to confirm that the library is open. Closures are rare, but will occur if the Mayor declares a State of Emergency or if, during evenings or weekends, the Library Director and/or Chairperson of the Library Board of Trustees determine that conditions warrant closure. Updates will be made to the library's voice mail message, and will be broadcast on KGMI 790AM.

Closure due to weather will affect the Central Library, Barkley Branch and Fairhaven Branch libraries. Library Connections at Bellingham Technical College, Whatcom Community College and Western Washington University will not receive holds when Bellingham Public Library is closed.  Library Connections may be closed if their college or university is closed.

Library patrons will still be able to access the library's collection of online databases, listen to Tumblebooks with their children and download eBooks and audiobooks from home regardless of the weather -- so stay cozy and safe at home when it snows.
